Can I buy and install it from China beforehand?
Yes. The QR code arrives as soon as you order, and installing early starts nothing — the plan begins at its first US network connection.
Do I need an SSN, a US credit card or a credit check?
None of the three. Pay with WeChat, Alipay or a card.
Do I keep my current number? Can it still receive bank and WeChat codes?
Yes. The eSIM adds a line — leave your physical card in and texts and codes arrive as normal.
What happens when the high-speed data runs out?
You drop to basic speed and stay online, with no extra charge. WeChat texts and maps work at that speed; video struggles.
Can I tether my laptop?
Yes — none of the six tiers caps hotspot data.
Is 5G supported?
It depends on the network you choose and local coverage. There's no 5G surcharge.
Do I keep the number and the plan when I go home?
Two options: $3 a month holds the remaining months, or stop and buy again next trip. Once a number is released we can't guarantee you'll get it back.
Does it work in mainland China?
Only Unlimited Pro includes 10 GB shared across mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau. The other tiers have no data service in China.
Which phones are supported?
iPhone XS and later, Galaxy S20 and later, Pixel 3 and later, and most Android flagships since 2021. The handset must not be carrier-locked.
